The Assyrian King List

A continuously updated chronographic list running from legendary tent-dwelling ancestors 'who lived in tents' down through historical kings of Ashur argues, unlike the Sumerian King List's single transferable office, for continuity of the office of king at Ashur even through documented rupture, flagging Shamshi-Adad I as an Amorite outsider, cataloguing a block of non-dynastic usurpers, and marking the Adaside line's own accession rather than concealing any of it.
