Hero and Leander
Ta kath' Hero kai Leandron
A short epyllion narrates the doomed nightly swims of Leander to his lover Hero across the Hellespont, ending in both their deaths, in a late, polished continuation of the Hellenistic mini-epic tradition, composed by a poet whose city - conventionally guessed as Alexandria - is not actually attested.
