The longest surviving Demotic wisdom text, comprising some twenty-five chapters and over a thousand short maxims on family, money, restraint, and the workings of fate, capped by a distinctive concluding discourse contrasting fate and fortune as two separate, often competing forces shaping human life. Found in the Faiyum and now largely held in Leiden, it represents the latest full development of the millennia-old Egyptian instruction genre before its eventual disappearance under Roman rule.
