A fragmentary royal monument bearing the Long Count date 8.12.14.8.15 (AD 292), the earliest securely dated Long Count inscription yet found on a Maya monument, marks the point at which the pictorial and glyphic conventions already visible some four centuries earlier at San Bartolo (see that entry) crystallize into the dated, dynastic monumental inscriptions that define the Classic Maya tradition.
